Mahindha Rajpaksa the man who made paradises as peaceful heavens.
by Adam Rasheed Ahmed (Maldives)
Sri Lanka the "TASTE OF PARADISE" & Maldives the "SUNNY SIDE OF LIFE" & India a country belongs one & only"GOD'S OWN LAND" has badly suffered because of LTTE tyrant Velapullai Prabakaran's terrorist organsation & its borderless, inhuman policies & activities. I believe as a political writer & editor Vanishing or demolition of LTTE leadership means irradiating TERRORISM.
Mahinda's Vision for the Country is CHANGE Sri Lanka to be a Modern State whilst Fostering the National Heritage and Culture with Peaceful Co-existence among the Communities of Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and others, instilling Economic Growth and Prosperity; and Maintaining Friendly Relationship with all Nations.
Percy Mahendra Rajapaksa born November 18, 1945) is the 5th and current executive President of Sri Lanka.
A lawyer by profession, Rajapaksa was first elected to the Parliament of Sri Lanka in 1970, and served as prime ministerApril 6, 2004 until his victory in the 2005 Presidential election. from
He was sworn in for a six-year term as president on November 19, 2005.
In 1989 he was re-elected to Parliament to represent Hambantota District under Proportional Representation. He came into prominence as a leader, together with Manorani Saravanamuttu, of the Mothers Front, which organised the mothers of the "disappeared" in the white terror of 1988-90 instigated by a rebel group that called themselves Deshapremi Jathika Vyaparaya or 'Patriotic National Movement'.[1]
Victory of the People's Alliance a political front led by Sri Lanka Freedom Party and headed by Chandrika Kumaratunga, Rajapaksa was appointed Minister of Labour. He held this post until 1997 when, following a cabinet reshuffle, his portfolio was changed to Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.[1]
When the United National Party (UNP) defeated the People's Alliance in the 2001 elections, Rajapaksa lost his position in the Government. He was however appointed as Leader of the Opposition in March 2002.[1]
After the Parliamentary Elections of 2004, in which the United People's Freedom Alliance was gained a slim majority in parliament. Rajapaksa was sworn in as Sri Lanka’s 13th Prime Minister on April 6, 2004.[1] While Rajapaksa was the Prime Minister, he also held the Ministry of Highways.
Rajapaksa was chosen by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party for the Presidential Election held on November 17, 2005. Rajapaksa prime opponent was former Prime Minister and Opposition Leader, Ranil Wickremasinghe, the leader of the United National Party in this election. Rajapaksa defeated Wickremasinghe narrowly by 190,000 votes and took office as President on November 19, 2005. Also, in the north-east, the LTTE called for a boycott of the polls from Tamil voters in areas under their control, and forcibly prevented a large section of voters from visiting the polling booths.[4] Rajapaksa received 50.3% of the vote.
After becoming President of Sri Lanka, Rajapaksa reshuffled the cabinet and took the portfolios of Defense and Finance in the new cabinet, which was sworn on November 23, 2005.
Although styling himself as a man of peace and a willing negotiator, Rajapakse signaled his intention to end the peace process once in power by forging an alliance with the Sinhalese nationalist JVP and the JHU. The JVP had opposed the original 2002 peace process as treasonous. The agreement made with Rajapakse included provisions which called for a revision of the ceasefire agreement to give the military broader powers against the LTTE, as well as ruling out of any devolution of power to the Tamil people. Furthermore, the cessation of aid to the Tsunami struck LTTE occupied areas, and the sidelining of the Norwegian facilitators due to their alleged bias was included. It was understood that these measures would effectively put an end to peace hopes.
Immediately following his election victory, a series of mine blasts blamed on the LTTE in the country claimed the lives of many off-duty servicemen and civilians, pushing the country back to the brink of war.[5] Following the closure by the LTTE of a reservoir supplying water to 15,000 people named "Mavil Aru" in government controlled areas on July 21, 2006, the Sri Lankan military launched an offensive against the LTTE, bringing the entire reservoir under government control. Further military engagements have led to the LTTE been driven out of the entire Eastern Province of Sri Lanka and lost 95% of the territory they controlled.
H.E.P Mahindha Rajpaksha has entered 21st Century's modern history as a Leader who leads for "BIG BROTHER" India, Maldives & Sri Lanak to achieve common goal of demolish & irradiate terrorist organization such as LTTE.
In 1997, the State Department has included the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) on its list of foreign terrorist organizations.
F.B.I, "the LTTE has perfected the use of suicide bombers, invented the suicide belt, pioneered the use of women in suicide attacks, murdered some 4,000 people in the past two years alone, and assassinated two world leaders - the only terrorist organization to do so."
The game started by the name of innocent peace loving, inteligent Tamils with Omar Maheshwaram & Prabakaran. The reality was living by example has failed. Both of them was split weapons has trigger to achieve there goals. "RAW-DOORS" has open for both & both used same door of RAW,The way of deception has applied to do same thing in a deferently. The any intelligence organization or team they don’t do deferent thing they attempt to do things differently .Maldives Nov 3rd 1988 was a 100% success model it’s a double digit gain in a modern history.
The Ministry of External Affairs was also upset at RAW's role in Sri Lanka as they felt that RAW was still continuing negotiations with the Tamil Tiger leader Parabhakran in contravention to the Indian government's foreign policy. According to R Swaminathan, (former Special Secretary of RAW) it was this outfit which was used as the intermediary between Rajib Gandhi and Tamil leader Parabhakaran. The former Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, J.N. Dixit even accused RAW of having given Rs. five corrode to the LTTE. At a later stage, RAW built up the EPRLF and ENDLF to fight against the LTTE which turned the situation in Sri Lanka highly volatile and uncertain later on.
1-Assination of Rajiv Gandhi by LTTE (Country belongs to GOD'S OWN LAND)
Rajiv Gandhi's assassination was carried out by Thenmozhi Rajaratnam, a female member of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by a human bomb at Sriperumbadur near Chennai on May 21, 1991. Seventeen other persons were also killed in the explosion, which left 44 persons seriously injured
who really killed Rajiv Gabdhi. Based on what Central Bureau of Investigation is finding, it may be more complex than John F. Kennedy's assassination. It is easy to point the finger to Tamil Tigers and forget about the real culprits. Slowly things rear coming out from bottom of the rugs. Tamil Tiger connection was used as front end and possibly as a diversion. But based on CBI sources, there were many people who wanted Rajiv dead. This includes even people he loved to work with. Some did it, many helped and many knew about it and did nothing much.
2-Assination of Pramadash by LTTE (Taste of Paradise)
The body of President Ranasinghe Premadasa, among other bodies at the blast site in Colombo where the LTTE set off a murderous blast on May 3, 1993.
The LTTE approved out 168 suicide attacks between 1984 and 2000. This is the highest number of suicide attacks by a terrorist organisation during this era, said Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva.
"The LTTE carried out 346 attacks targeting innocent civilians in many parts of the country and they assassinated 3,262 civilians during 1984 to 2006", de Silva said. The Minister was addressing an vote meeting at the UPFA social gathering office in Kurunegala Town on Saturday. Minister de Silva said the LTTE approved out the 346 attacks targeting blameless civilians.
"The LTTE killed 3,262 civilians in these attacks throughout 1984 to 2006. They have killed 2,252 Sinhala civilians, 309 Tamil civilians and 701 Muslim civilians in these attacks and have gravely upset 3,494 people counting children, women and even with child mothers", he said.
The Minister also said the LTTE killed 50 political best including President Ranasinghe Premadasa, UNP Presidential vote candidate, Gamini Dissanayake, Ministers D.M. Dassanayake and Jeyaraj Fernandopulle and veteran official Lakshman Kadirgamar.
They also tried to kill former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, he said.
"Many supposed that the LTTE was an unbeatable terrorist organisation. But, this Government has exposed that we can beat the LTTE. Under the management of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Government approved out operations next to terrorism
3-Nov 3rd 1988 Tamil TERRORIST attack to Maldives.(Sunny side of Life)
(Ref):On May 19, 1982, a shootout occurred at about 9:45 p.m. at Pondy Bazaar, Mambalam, Madras between LTTE and PLOTE members. V. Prabhakaran and Raghavan (alias Sivakumar) of the LTTE, armed with revolvers, opened fire on Jotheeswaran and Mukundan (alias Uma Maheswaran) of the PLOTE. In the mid-1970s, both Prabhakaran and Uma Maheswaran were members of the LTTE. During the gunfire, Jotheeswaran sustained bullet injuries both in his right and left thighs. Mukundan was also shot at but escaped unhurt. The accused V. Prabhakaran and Sivakumar were arrested and remanded. Both of them were proclaimed offenders of the Sri Lankan government.
On May 25, 1982, Umea Maheswaran was arrested near Gummidipoondi railway station. At the time of arrest, he opened fire with his revolver and another case was registered against him under the Indian Arms Act.
In the meantime, on May 23, 1982 Sivaneswaran (alias Niranjan), an accomplice of Mukundan, was also arrested at Saidapet, Madras and an unlicensed revolver seized from him. All these accused remained in custody until August 5, 1982 when they were released by the orders of the court on conditional bail. The LTTE cadres including their leader V.Pirabhakaran had taken up residence at Mylapore Madras, while the leaders and members of the PLOTE had been staying at Saidapet, MadrasPLOTE was founded in 1980 by an ex-surveyor Uma Maheswaran alias Mukundan, who became its general secretary. He was the chairman of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (Tamil Tigers or LTTE) from 1977–1980. He was trained in Lebanon and later in Syria under the Palestinian nationalist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. After a bitter rivalry with Velupillai Prabhakaran, Uma Maheswaran left the LTTE in 1980 and formed PLOTE.
PLOTE lost its strength and momentum gradually due to continual conflicts with the LTTE. In July 16, 1989, Uma Maheswaran was assassinated in Colombo. A PLOTE splinter group ENDLF claimed responsibility, though many still suspect LTTE involvement.(vkpa).
Unknown assailants killed the head of PLOTE, Mr. Uma Maheshwaran, in the immediate aftermath of the incident. His body was discovered in a lane named Frankfurt Place, located one street behind the Maldivian Embassy in Melbourne Avenue, in Colombo.

The Indian Cabinet approved the dispatch of forces at 1530 hrs on November 3rd. Within 6 hours of cabinet approval, 50 Ind. Para Bde. launched the Maldives operation, codenamed Operation Cactus. The first pair of Indian Air Force IL-76MDs taking off from Agra embarked elements of 6 Para Bn. and 17 Para Field Regiment (the regiment's heavy weapons unit). The lead aircraft carried the Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives, who then was in New Delhi and Brigadier F.F.C. Bulsara, the Bde. Cdr. The first troops touched down at the airport in Hulule, an island 3 kms from Male - the capital, after a non-stop 4 hour flight. The paratroopers made an uncontested landing and the island was secured within 30 minutes.
Two platoons from 6 Para then commandeered local boats to cross into Male. By 0230 hours on November 4th, President Gayoom had been located and escorted to safety. November 4th also saw the arrival of more Indian forces. A fleet of An-12s, An-32s and IL-76s brought in the remainder of 10 Para Cdo. And 6 Para Bn. A pair of IAF Mirage 2000s, were also deployed to the island in a show of force. Later that day Mi-8s flew 10 Para Cdo. to the outlying island to search for any mercenaries. Shortly thereafter a vessel was seen fleeing Male and it was discovered that mercenaries were on board with hostages, including the Maldivian Minister of Education. Cdr. of the 17 Para Fd. Regt. rushed its heavy machine guns and rocket launchers to the southern tip of the island and fired on the ship. Though the 17 Para Fd. Regt. scored hits, the ship escaped only to be boarded by the Indian Navy the following day.
The ship was detected by an IL-38 May maritime recon aircraft, from the Indian Navy, and was then tracked by an Tu-142M Bear-F, another maritime recon aircraft of the Indian Navy, until 2 Indian Naval vessels, the INS Tir and INS Godavari were able to capture the absconding ship. Two Sea King Mk.42 choppers, from the one of the naval vessels, dropped depth charges to deter evasion. On the morning of 6 November 1988,
The Indian Marine Strike Force (now known as the Marine Commando Force - MARCOS) commandos boarded the vessel and took control without any resistance from the mercenaries. Operation Cactus was concluded without any casualties to India, except for an Indian soldier who shot himself in the foot. The 6 Para Bn. was to remain in Maldives for exactly one year after the coup attempt
Making of Paradises as Peaceful Heavens:
“I am the proudest Head of State who delivered a unitary nation- President”
On January 2, 2008, The Sri Lankan government unanimously decided to formally withdraw from the ceasefire with the separatist Tamil Tiger rebels, which had existed only on paper over the past two years. Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake had proposed that the cabinet annul the truce after yet another bomb blast went off on January 2 in the capital, Colombo, killing five and injuring over 28.
"The Government of Sri Lanka yesterday (3rd January 2008) formally notified the Norwegian Government of its decision to terminate the Agreement on a “Ceasefire (CFA) between the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam” concluded on 22nd February 2002. This notification was in terms of Article 4:4 of this Agreement and will take effect 14 days from the date of this notice i.e. 16th January 2008. Accordingly, the Status of Mission Agreement (SOMA) on the Establishment and the Management of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) dated 18th March 2002 between the Royal Norwegian Government and the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka will also stand terminated with effect from 16th January 2008.
This was amidst the demands of the defense secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa on December 29, 2007[36]. The termination of the ceasefire agreement by the Government of Sri Lanka has caused fear amongst the civilian population living in the Tamil dominated northeast. Furthermore, donor countries such as the United States Canada and Norway have shown deep regrets on this decision by the Sri Lankan government. Neighboring India has also shown is dismay of Sri Lanka's abrogation of the ceasefire.
On 19 May 2009, the Sri Lankan military effectively concluded its 26 year operation against the LTTE. The 58 Division of the Sri Lankan Army led by Brig. Shavendra Silva, 59 Division led by Brig. Prasanna de Silva and the 53 Division commanded by Gen. Kamal Gunaratne, after having boxed in the remaining LTTE cadres into a small area of territory near Nandhikkadal lagoon, linked up and eliminated the remaining cadres. This final battle claimed the lives of several top LTTE leaders, including Jeyam, Bhanu, Lawrence, Pappa, Laxamanan, Balasingham Nadesan, Pottu Amman, Soosai and Velupillai Prabhakaran who was reported to have attempted to flee.On the morning of the 19th, soldiers of the 4th Vijayabahu infantry regiment led by Lt. Col Rohitha Aluvihare claimed to have found the body of Prabhakaran, and so militarily ending a separatist war that had defined Sri Lanka's history for three decades.
On 22 May 2009, Sri Lankan Defence Minister Gotabhaya Rajapaksa confirmed that 6,261 personnel of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces had lost their lives and 29,551 were wounded during Eelam War IV since July 2006. Brig. Udaya Nanayakkara added that approximately 22,000 LTTE cadres had died during this time.
Mahinda Rajapaksa and his brother and Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa escaped “by a whisker” at least three assassination attempts by LTTE suicide squads, thanks to “tightened security arrangements”, said the Sri Lankan Army (SLA) on Friday.
In a report posted on its website, the Army said the information came to light in the course of a court inquiry into the Wellawatte (Tamil dominated area in Colombo) suicide bomber’s death.
The Army said state intelligence wings had unravelled several “intended terrorist bloodbaths”.
“The most recent arrest of an LTTE mastermind who has been operating with the support of several others in Colombo revealed that all three attempts made on the lives of President and Defence Secretary have failed by a whisker due to tightened security network,” it said.
The Army said information provided by an arrested Tiger, who had received special training in Kilinochchi for VIP assassination plans, led State Intelligence Service (SIS) to four LTTE suicide jackets hidden in the ceiling of a luxurious residential apartment in Wellawatte on May 14.
“As the SIS officers in the company of the said arrested terrorist surrounded the 7th floor of the residential complex, one more youth, an undergraduate in engineering in the Moratuwa University who was also to be arrested for his links with Tigers, suddenly ran and committed suicide by jumping off the building. The deceased was later identified as Thamodaram Pillai Sujindran,” said the Army.
It said investigations confirmed that the dead terrorist’s brother, who was now living in London, was one of the three owners of the Wellawatte residential complex. “Findings confirmed he is a hardcore LTTE operative who has been actively involved in the LTTE’s international network. SIS investigators later on took his sister, mother and three more youngsters studying in a private school into custody for interrogation.”
The first assassination attempt on the President, according to the arrested Tiger, was made while he was attending a passing-out parade at Diyatalawa military academy on December 20. A military officer who had been involved in the plan has also been arrested.
The second attempt was to be carried out when he was participating in the “Deyata Kirula” exhibition here on April 4. “The suicide bomber had sought permission to enter the premises in the company of the arrested military officer, but the senior police officer in charge of security did not allow them.”
The third attempt was of a “complex nature”. LTTE suicide bombers executed a suicide attack on a group of Ministers attending a Muslim religious function at Godakapitiya in Akuressa, Matara on March 10. “Tiger terrorists, presuming that President would be coming to see [the] hospitalised Ministers, dispatched a suicide cadre to the hospital premises, but the target did not meet its fruition”
The reality is Rajpasha has sacrifice his life & family for the interest of peace loving beloved citizens. The direct & indirect benefits have been contributed to Indians & Maldivians. The fear of living with LTTE terror has completely vanished. Now the flowers of Indies have TASTE OF PARADISE, SUNNY SIDE OF LIFE & GODS OWN LAND became the reality of Rajpaksha’s valuable effort to make Paradises as Peaceful Heavens.
