PEOPLES 12 ,13 or MDP’ EXCLUSIVE EVENT.
The Aug 12th & 13th in Maldives was pro-democracy demonstration that began on the night of 12 August, 2004, at the Republican Square.
MDP has no wright to claim Aug 12,13 as there exclusive event.
The MDP has officially celebrated Aug 12,13 in Alimas Kaanival stage last night with YELLOW.
Aug 12 is Maldives day of Democracy & 13th is Maldives day of Human rights.
The way MDP & its Government has celebrated the event colorfully but PEOPLE participation was very less.
That may be a responsible of event manager in MDP.
The people expected to hear key notes from people like Ibrahim Ismail,Gasim Ibrahim & rest of Majlis members lecture or there feelings about the matter.
President Nasheed was apear on the stage as a president not in the mood head democracy movement which may be not a bad concept according to present political situation.
People expected to have mike on the stage to share just public saying few words the Aug 12th 13th Strike.
After math of what has taken place in local political atmosphere in Maldives, lot of barriers & challenges of initiating other than MDP members to participate the event has defferent school thoughts. This “ICE” has break from MDP members & Government to make this event as PEOPLES EVENT not MDP & its Government exclusivity of Aug 12 & 13.
The reality is present MDP 80% members & there leaders has mega contribution to make this event happen in a extremely DANGEROUS atmosphere.

Qasim ,Ibra, & other movers & shakers are not willing to participate in this event. Do they have much more AGENDA to goals in politics.

Wonder, why MDP and its members, specially, our HEP as one individual who has contributed and sacrified so much in bringing equal and fair representation of people (democracy) does not wish and want more participation for a celebration of pro-democracy movement?
ReplyDeleteIsn't success of our HEP contribute to the fact of giving opportunity for more people and failure of our previous president lead to inequality to more people?
Perhaps, it must have been the reason why pro-democracy is not gaining the movement which we anticipate or inspire? Wouldn't it be a better option, if MDP defines its shared values (I believe our HEP have had observed the letter and spirit of those values himselves to make his mission impossible a success) openly and transparently and make a "better democracy" in the whole world.
Definitely, we (our beloved Nation)have those basic ingredients and/or components though people in power and money kept abusing and manipulating for temporary advantages and benefits. If what we are experiencing today was the outcome of yesterday, can we change the outcome of tomorrow without changing to the right "tharutheebu", as our HEP said in various occasions? Yes, I like not only those words uttered by our HEP but both philosophically as well as practically.
Yes, don't try to make time, as an excuse? Was the time factor on Naheed's side, when he strived harder to bring fair and equal representation of people (democracy)? Of course, not! But is there anyone other than our present President who has ever contributed or sacrified so harder to bring/protect freedom and rights for our Nation?
Of course, its what we do which matters more than time and how we do it?
Yes, it is my wish, hope and endeavour (however, insignificant it may be) to make our beloved Nation better and better!!
